MGM Grand Detroit Casino will be working with IGT to install new cardless connect technology for loyalty and transaction options, providing a breakthrough in a brick-and-mortar casino’s ability to be able to connect with guests.
The new casino application is compatible with iOS and Android smartphones, allowing casino guests to use their mobile phones to gain rewards for their gameplay instead of needing a customer loyalty card to collect them. The initial roll-out of the new technology is expected in the last quarter of 2016.
New Cashless Casino Technology Will Modernize the Slot Experience
The new technology also facilitates cashless gaming between a player’s digital wallet and electronic video slot machines. Usually, slot players would be required to insert their casino loyalty card to earn points for their play, but now players are simply required to tap against the electronic gaming machine with their smartphone to begin playing, meaning you can jump straight into the immersive video slot action.
“By offering players the simplicity of tapping a phone on a slot machine to begin play or transfer funds, Cardless Connect technology elevates casino applications to a new level of ecommerce potential, convenience and functionality that is consistent with mobile applications from some of today’s strongest consumer brands,” Sina Miri, IGT Vice President Casino Systems, said in a press release.
Engages Younger Demographic
The company is looking forward to the results of the MGM Grand Detroit casino trial, IGT would obviously have plans to expand this cardless connect technology. The change is clearly aimed at trying to target a younger customer demographic who are more tech savvy, as well as to enrich MGM Grand Detroit’s brand value, as it modernizes the way rewards and player transactions are handled by the casino.
