How to Choose Which Games to Play

One of the great advantages of playing at an online casino is the variety of games available to you. All of the leading casinos have extensive suites of games giving you plenty of choice for what to play. You’ll typically find all of the most popular ones available such as slots, blackjack, and roulette and usually a whole host of others too. From variations on traditional games to brand new games the selection is almost endless.

Having so many games to choose from is great, but it can create a problem as it can be difficult, particularly for beginners, to actually decide which games to play. Even more experienced players can be a little overwhelmed by all the options there are. It isn’t really something to worry about too much though, as it doesn’t actually matter how you go about selecting your games.

You might like to try a different game every time you play and there’s nothing wrong with that. You might have one or two favorites that you prefer to stick to and that’s just fine too. In our opinion, part of the fun of playing online is in playing new games and seeing what they are all about, so with that being said our advice to you would be to simply give them all a try and then decide which ones you like the best.

However, we do recognize that many casino players have certain preferences about what they want from a game and like to try and play games according to those preferences. For example, some players like low risk gambling so they are best served playing games with a low house edge. Other players prefer to go after the big win, so they’re better off playing games with high payouts or jackpots.

With this in mind we have compiled some lists of what we consider to be the best casino games in a few different categories. Hopefully this will help you to find a game that suits you. Just remember, though, that there’s no right or wrong decision when it comes to choosing what to play. It’s simply a matter of personal preference.

Casino Games With A Low House Edge

  • Blackjack
  • Video Poker
  • European Roulette
  • Craps
  • Baccarat

Playing games with a low house edge should, in theory at least, mean your money will last a lot longer. The games we’ve listed here have some of the lowest house advantages, so they are good options for the relatively risk averse. Please note this list isn’t in any particular order.

The exact house edge in blackjack depends on the house rules and your ability to use perfect strategy. With the right rules and use of strategy you can reduce the house edge to below 1% on this game. That’s without using card counting, which can technically turn the game in your favor if you are skilled enough.

There are lots of different video poker games and lots of different pay tables so again it’s difficult to stipulate an exact house edge. If you choose your games carefully though, and make good decisions on which cards to keep and which ones to discard you can get the house edge down very low.

Some people might argue that, with a house edge of 2.70%, European roulette shouldn’t be included in this list. However, we have chosen to do so two reasons. First, it’s by way of comparison, as the house edge in this game is significantly better than the 5.26% in American roulette. We’re also of the opinion that 2.70% is a decent edge considering that you can get high payouts in the game.

Craps is another game that some might disagree with putting on our list, but certain wagers you can place do have very low house edges, so we think it’s warranted. There can be no such argument about baccarat, which has a house edge of little more than 1% when betting on the banker hand. It’s not much higher when betting on the player hand either. The tie bet does have a high house edge though, so its better to avoid that.

Casino Games With High Payouts & Jackpots

  • Slots
  • Roulette
  • Caribbean Stud Poker
  • Casino Hold’em Poker
  • Let It Ride Poker
  • Video Poker
  • Sic Bo
  • Keno

Slots are almost certainly the best option if you want to try  to win a lot of money. Most slots have a jackpot of some kind that you can win if you hit a certain combination of symbols or get the right result in a bonus round, and some games have progressive jackpots which can grow substantially.

Roulette makes this list because you can win big relative to your stake if you’re betting on a single number, as the wager pays out 35:1 if you win. Similarly in Sic Bo there are certain bets you can make where the payouts are very high. Betting on a specific triple, for example, typically pays out 150:1 and some casinos offer even higher odds.

We’ve included a few of the casino poker games as you can achieve high pay outs in these if you get a strong enough hand. In Caribbean Stud, there’s also often a progressive jackpot which you can win if you hit a royal flush and are playing the side bet. In Keno you can get high pay outs if you select enough numbers and they all get drawn.

Casino Games Involving Skill

  • Blackjack
  • Video Poker
  • Caribbean Stud Poker
  • Casino Hold’em
  • Let It Ride Poker
  • Pai Gow Poker

This isn’t an exhaustive list by any means, but these are some of the most popular games that involve at least some degree of skill. Out of these, it’s blackjack that involves the most skill. Knowing when to hit, when to stand, when to double, and when to split can have a significant impact on how much you win or lose.

In video poker the skill aspect to the game is largely in working out which game variations and which pay tables offer the best return. You also have to make good decisions in terms of which cards you discard and which cards you keep. The skill element in the other games listed here isn’t huge, but there are certain decisions you have to make which will affect your overall return.

It’s worth pointing out that there are a number of other skill based games that you can play online for money. These include Texas Hold’em poker, rummy, and backgammon. We actually have a section on Top10CasinoOnline.COM that’s all about the various skill games you can gamble on.

Easy To Learn Casino Games

  • Slots
  • Blackjack
  • Roulette
  • Baccarat
  • Keno
  • 3 Card Poker

The vast majority of casino games are reasonably easy to learn although some are more difficult than others. The six games that we have listed above are probably the ones that are the easiest to come to grips with.

Slots in particular are incredibly simple; you basically just have to know how to push a button. The rules of blackjack are straightforward enough, even if learning the strategy involved is a bit more complicated. Baccarat is super easy to learn, with just three betting options and no decisions to make during the game.

Roulette, despite having a lot of betting options, is also very straightforward to learn. Keno is an extremely easy lottery style game which is essentially just picking numbers and then hoping they get drawn. 3 card poker, however, is the simplest of all the casino poker games.
